Here is what a friend texted me yesterday: "I turn 30 in a month and I was wondering if I'm strict Paleo what I can expect to lose of I'd notice a difference in 30 days?"
It reminded me of me last year. "I'm turning 40 in November and I don't to be fat on my birthday, ahhhhhHHhhHH!" I had all year to get ready. It wasn't like turning 40 was a surprise or I had forgotten when my birthday was. But like I usually do, I waited until the last minute. (Oh, the brilliant ideas I had for college term papers at 2:00am the day they were due but I digress. LOL!) That's why, in mid-September 2011...
....I went on a 30 day juice fast. I lost 17 pounds.
My friend John just did a 60 day juice fast where he lost 51 pounds.
So, if you want to lose weight really, really fast, I suggest a juice fast. Not only will you lose weight, but you'll get super healthy while you do it. And you won't be hungry. I wasn't. That's why some people call it a juice feast.
If you don't want to go a juice fast then I recommend for Paleo eating:
That leaves you with vegetables, meat and, um, vegetables. And fat, of course. Do not forget the fat.
"But what about some nuts?" you might ask. Well, OK, but watch it. It's so easy to start Paleo by eating bread made with almonds, muffins made with almonds, pancakes made with almonds, almonds made with almonds.... but nuts add up quickly. Back in the caveman days if you found a nut you had to crack it open somehow and dig the meat out. You had to work for each and every bite. Now you can buy them in the bulk aisle, open your mouth, and just pour.
After I was Paleo for seven or eight months, my happy college weight maintained, I discovered cashew butter. I gained 7 pounds, realized I had a nut problem and cut them completely out of my diet. But that's because I've learned that any time I'm hiding in that little corner of my kitchen next to the fridge where no one can see me, stuffing food into my face as fast as I can before the kids find me and demand that I share, that's a food I should not be eating.
Your body craves what it is intolerant to, after all. And not in a good way. ;)
I like the easy Paleo stuff.
