The family and I went to the San Jose Giants baseball game tonight. I thought it would be fun to tell you what I brought.
I know you are not allowed to bring outside food in to places like baseball games, but I know the magic words.
"Excuse me, ma'am", says the woman checking my bag at the gate, "do you have any food in here?"
"Yes, I do, my kids have food allergies."
"Ok, thank you."
And off we went.
First Things First
We ate before the game at home. It started at 7:00pm, so dinner was had. Even if the game was at 4:00pm I would have fed the kids before we left. An empty stomach at the start of a long outing is not usually a good thing when you can't live off the land buying nachos and french fries wherever you go.
Snacks I Brought
2 little boxes of raisins
1 bag of raw cookies
I ate an apple.
The 5 year old had one box of raisins and one Larabar.
The 9 year old had one Larabar.
The kids and I split the bag of cookies.
My husband ate nothing.
It was easy to pack, required no cooler, and I had food left over. The raw cookie bag becomes a great place to hold my apple core and the little one seemed impressed with the variety of choices (which surprised me).
This is a far cry from the newly Paleo me who would over pack, bring a heavy cooler, make muffins, and generally stress about it all.
We've been Paleo now for 20 months and it just keeps getting easier. Or rather, I keep making it easier on myself, thank goodness. :)
I like the easy Paleo stuff.
